John Banda is a development finance expert with experience in Micro Small and Medium Enterprise lending spanning over 30 years. John has been involved in both retail and wholesale microfinance locally and regionally. John started as a Business Analyst at SEDCO in 1988 before becoming the Country Manager of ECLOF Zimbabwe in 1996. He then joined Oikocredit, a Dutch Microfinance Wholesale Institution and was based in its regional office in Pretoria SA. He re-joined ECLOF International in 2012 as the Africa Regional Support Consultant covering Zambia, Kenya, Uganda Tanzania and Ghana. In June 2016, John joined the Zimbabwe Microfinance Fund, a wholesale microfinance entity as Operations Manager. During his time there, he spearheaded the diversification of the Fund’s investment portfolio into both debt and equity investments.

John is the Managing Director and co-founder of Hunters Learning Institute P/L.   

John holds a BSc Hons. Economics degree and an MBA both from the University of Zimbabwe. John has taught part-time on the HIT Microfinance Diploma and the NUST/ZAMFI Microfinance Certificate Programmes.
